Red On the Radar ~ Skin Lingerie A/W 2023 Preview

My first writing foray with Skin Lingerie was in 2011, when the company was just 7 years old. I visited the showroom directly following a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art where I had just seen the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibit. Within moments of reviewing the Skin collections, I saw a poetic metaphor between the McQueen genius and Skin’s creative vision. It was the combination of fragility and strength that inspired me. Skin’s intention has never vacillated. Honoring nature with a sophisticated simplicity, the integrity of style and construction is never compromised. 
Every Skin collection has remained in its channel; earth colors, stone, shells, rocks, desert, air, and water dominate the Skin stratosphere. Easy generous shapes beg to be relaxed in. The luxury of casual comfort presides. Nonetheless, for Fall 2023, something new is brewing in the Skin repertoire. Red is on the radar, a proud, bold, and powerful color that evokes the modern feminine psyche. It connotes change, growth, courage. Still Skin remains true to its soul, using nature as inspiration. A brilliant sunrise and a provocative sunset come to mind. Red has many meanings but for this brand, it is surely an homage to health, vigor, energy, and subtle sensuality. Wearing it just feels good!
