Ensconced here in sunny Mexico, veteran north-easterner that I am, it is sometimes difficult for me to remember that the holidays are upon us. That’s not to say that there are no festivities, because of course there are. But one doesn’t really witness it from every direction quite like in North America. However, a sure fact is the transformation that occurs nightly in Cabo San Lucas as the town becomes … Read More
A few nights ago, I was coasting through the Netflix menu looking for an appropriate babysitter for my 21 month old grandson, Jude, when I happened upon an exquisite marine documentary, “Under the Sea”. Filmed for IMAX, the close up slow motion photography was mesmerizing. I was completely seduced. The collage of colors and shapes undulating beneath a shimmering light was exquisite. Even Jude was transfixed as we watched this … Read More
When my sister in law was married in Paris a few years ago, albeit a very intimate party, there was something somewhat “Je ne sais quoi” about the whole affair. It’s that French chic that permeates most everything one sees in this elegant city. No lingerie design house possesses this style more then the venerable Cadolle. Every detail; stitch, ribbon, fagoting, embroidery, fabric, boning and lace reminds me who … Read More
When I was a teenager, the preppy trend was huge and the hot item for the “cool” girls was the Lilly Pulitzer® shift dress made famous by the Oprah of the day, Jackie Kennedy. Recognized for her free spirit, she … Read More

My recent fascination with the swimwear market has been relegated to new heights as I spend these weeks in a beach community that runs the gamut from laissez-faire to sophisticated chic. Since the world lives in shorts and bathing suits here in Cabo, it is natural for cover-ups to take a front and center position, not only at the water’s edge, but also in the streets. On … Read More
It’s late Monday evening and I just returned from Costco here in Cabo San Lucas. Constantly enamored by the multi-faceted psyche of this stellar retailer, I mine their assortment wherever I happen to stumble upon one of their stores. I was, however, somewhat stumped last week when I found a table of bathing suits sitting right next to a display of fur trimmed winter parkas. Adding to the confusion was … Read More
We went snorkeling yesterday at Chileno Bay. Daily, tourist groups are brought there to explore the reefs for which this cove is known. Here in the southern Baha, the ocean is very clear near the shore. Floating face down in these warm Mexican waters is somewhat of a transcendent experience. Beneath the surface, the sunlight creates an undulating translucence simulating a 3D movie. The fish, each a unique color and … Read More
