Divine Inspiration

By Marina Rybak

I feel that realizing creative potential to the fullest on any stage can offer profound change, bringing personal happiness and a joyful, successful life experience. Also it can be a key to a peaceful coexistence.

The fulfillment of our creative potential through our own unique path allows all of us, individually and collectively, to be enriched by our shared world inheritance. Not only does it propel us to live our lives with a greater sense of dignity and self–worth as responsible custodians of our blue planet, but also it may enhance greater global cooperation.  Once, I traveled to magnificent Jerusalem and immersed myself in the cross-cultural melting pot, designing a rather whimsical and innovative lingerie collection.

One season the sample room team was getting ready for the NY Market Week and I was enlisted to baby-sit some of the five and six year olds that joined their parents on that busy day.  Equipped only with my art supplies, we spread out on the floor of my studio, surrendering to our inner artists. The children, not aware of the cultural differences given to them by the adults, happily engaged with each other through the artistic language, the universal language without barriers, borders and prejudices. That’s when I understood that the roadmap to a world peace could possibly lead through a crayon box.

Divine inspiration is always here to assist us. All we have to do is ask. The ancient Greeks were wise, invoking a Muse before embarking on the creative journey. At times to find my divine inspiration I just turn to the simple rhymes for the children of all ages like this one from the colorful Disney Pinocchio.

When you wish upon a star
Makes no difference who you are
Anything your heart desires
come to you

If your heart is in your dream
No request is too extreme
When you wish upon a star
As dreamers do

Fate is kind
She brings to those who love
The sweet fulfillment of
Their secret longing

Like a bolt out of the blue
Fate steps in and sees you through
When you wish upon a star
Your dreams come true

There is one thing I would change in the lyrics and use the word faith instead of fate. After all we have our free will and a choice.

The New Year is unfolding and I would love to conclude where I began and embolden everyone to realize their creative potential to the fullest.
