BRIEF ALERT! Bubbles and Bras

This Week’s Intimate Discovery:  Meet Me @ Montelle Intimates For A Champagne Chat

As you might imagine, I have many great fitting bras in my wardrobe, so it takes a lot for a new style to pass muster with me.  When Montelle Intimates introduced me to their Pure Plus bra about 18 months ago, I was a bit skeptical.  Suffice it to say, trying it proved that any good merchant never resists a new product introduction if the quality and core value exceeds expectations.  This concise collection of basic bra silhouettes is constructed to fit sizes 32-42, A–G cups; with panty programs available from XS–XXL.  Created in Montelle’s Montreal based design studios, what makes these essential styles so special is a combination of flair, function, fit, and fantastic service offered by this 25 year old brand.  I would be more then pleased to expound further on the virtues they … ...Read more

Spellbound ~ Blush Lingerie

Marilyn Monroe was a famous movie star when I was a child.  I remember seeing Some Like It Hot at the Lake George Drive In Theater during summer vacation with my parents.  It is amazing how 50 years later this actress, with her sultry demeanor dimly veiling a girl next door naivety, still fascinates the American public. Michelle Williams, who stars in the highly acclaimed My Week With Marilyn, describes the star as “something sleepy”.  One could imagine her “crawling out of the sheets”.   Last week, I watched the pilot of the much touted new TV series, Smash.  Once again the fusion of excess and innocence is being resurrected in this musical drama series that pits the milky Iowan wannabe against the veteran blonde sexpot as they vie for the lead role in the musical, Marilyn.  Marilyn Monroe has become a cultural icon.

With her red lips, … ...Read more

BRIEF ALERT! Maison Close

This Week’s Intimate Discovery:  A Provocative French Brand Ices the Cake

Palais Voltaire from Maison Close as seen on Lingerie BriefsFrom the time I was a little girl, I was always just a little bit too interested in the icing on the cake.  Maybe that is why I have always had an eye for items that provide the show stopping moment in any production.  There is a time and place for everything, but Valentine’s Day is one date in the Lingerie industry, where delicious, sexy and over the top treats should be front and center.  I discovered the Maison Close line several years ago and was enchanted even then by the, playful, sensual and sophisticated elements offered by this French boudoir brand.  Designed for pleasure, these exquisite pieces are a provocative and ardent luxury gift.

Dare To Be ~ Marlies Dekkers

I wrote my senior thesis in college on Vincent Van Gogh.  The major theme was the impact of vivid color and the intensity of his brushstroke.  Was he mad as the pundits claimed?  Or did he, in fact possess a confident audacity to defy the artistic traditions of his time and risk acceptance in order to make his own personal statement.  My obsession with Van Gogh began in 1970 at The Philadelphia Museum of Art while viewing a retrospective of his work.  So it is very interesting that this same bastion of fine art is currently showing another perspective of these extraordinary masterpieces,Van Gogh Up Close.  In this exhibition, his creative genius is defined by the individual elements of his work. When we look at the details, we understand their contribution to an entirely new vision of the world.

Just as Van Gogh experimented with painting, Marlies Dekker’s ...Read more

BRIEF ALERT! Nicole Miller

This Week’s Intimate Discovery:  A Renown RTW Designer Enters The Loungewear Market

Since I am still lulling around in my post trip comfort zone I thought this could be a great time to reveal my latest intimates discovery, Nicole Miller.  When I first heard that this brand, which I have often identified with black, bold, form fitting designs, had now entered the Lingerie market, I was curious. After seeing the collection at the Carole Hochman Design Studios, I was convinced. Nicole has managed to translate her signature drape of fabrics as well as her dynamic use of patterns into a simple and sophisticated collection of lounge pieces that move seamlessly from inside a woman’s home to any outside relaxed venue.  Combining ultra-light washed satin and supima cotton in sensual colors fitting sizes XS – XL, these are two of my favorite styles launching  this Spring.
