Patrick Nagel famously immortalized the 80’s woman as powerful and provocative in his paintings. He created works of unapologetic, fierce women through bold expressions, forward fashion (however little) and punches of neon. I love the way I see his vision translating to swimwear this season. Brazilian bikinis and shield shades are flooding the gram in bright colors and the energy is through the roof! Without a doubt, it’s going to be an exciting season for swimwear…
Summer 2018 has me feeling ultra-inspired to turn up the heat. The season’s futuristic yet old school, sporty, neon trend has me ready to hit the ground running and I love the way it’s translating to swimwear. I am wearing Body Glove’s throwback collection, the epitome of the late 80‘s fitness fad. I mean, how epic is the front zipper?
Simple standout comfort in hot colors ruled the fashion pages of … ...Read more

When two major fashion talents combine forces, magical (or in this case whimsical) designs are the result. At least that is the case when luxury shoe and handbag designer extraordinaire Charlotte Olympia paired with Brazilian beachwear designer Adriana Degreas as part of her 10-year anniversary celebration. Both designers have a flair for creating eye-catching statement pieces, and the capsule collection featured here is no exception!
The Charlotte Olympia x Adriana Degreas collection includes retro-inspired swimwear with a quirky pin-up aesthetic. From tutti frutti patterns to leopard prints, the swimwear line includes one-piece and bikini cuts with a nod to old Hollywood glamour. We see high-waist bottoms, ruched side panels and a modern take on classic 1950s silhouettes, including the most adorable vintage swim caps.
For this special collection, which was recently made available in limited release on both designers’ websites (and at Bergdorf Goodman), you may recognize … ...Read more

As we celebrate the official beginning of summer, of schools being out, of half day Fridays and the sweltering heat of July, swimwear comes into focus. The classification has gained momentum is the last few years with many intimate brands introducing swim collections providing a myriad of choices. I could have focused on only American brands but I also wanted to pay tribute to what makes this country truly special…immigrants. And brands such as Rue 107, owned by Haitian born Marie Jean Baptiste, B Fyne founded by a Nigerian American and Zingara, a Mexican based brand all show the creativity and design detail of more familiar names.
Norma Kamali has been designing for strong independent women for decades and her iconic ruched swimwear is just as relevant now as it was when she debuted it. La Perla swim needs no introduction. Lise Charmel has some … ...Read more

Somebody at Andres Sarda must have been listening to Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” on repeat while creating this runway collection. Inspired by all things 1980s, the Spring/Summer 2018 swim collection was heavily styled with legwarmers, shoulder pads, Robert Palmer-esque models (remember “Simply Irresistible”?), and bold colors. If you’re able to look beyond the eye-catching details that make this runway show as period-specific as it was, you will see the foundations for a classic swimwear collection. Striped and solid bikinis and one-piece suits are the first layering component for each look, and part of the collection that will be available at a retail level. Granted, if you’re looking for ways to dress up your beach attire, this show is filled with creative ideas! Every F/W and S/S season, Spanish lingerie & swim brand Andres Sarda participates in Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (Madrid), and consistently shows up as one of the … ...Read more
