Patrick Nagel Art featured on Lingerie Briefs

Patrick Nagel famously immortalized the 80’s woman as powerful and provocative in his paintings. He created works of unapologetic, fierce women through bold expressions, forward fashion (however little) and punches of neon. I love the way I see his vision translating to swimwear this season. Brazilian bikinis and shield shades are flooding the gram in bright colors and the energy is through the roof! Without a doubt, it’s going to be an exciting season for swimwear…

B Fyne Swimwear illustrated by Tina Wilson for Lingerie Briefs

As we celebrate the official beginning of summer, of schools being out, of half day Fridays and the sweltering heat of July, swimwear comes into focus. The classification has gained momentum is the last few years with many intimate brands introducing swim collections  providing a myriad of choices. I could have focused on only American brands but I also wanted to pay tribute to what makes this country truly special…immigrants.  And brands such as Rue 107, owned by Haitian born Marie Jean Baptiste, B Fyne founded by a Nigerian American and Zingara, a Mexican based brand all show the creativity and design detail of more familiar names.… ...Read more

Andres Sarda Fashion Swimwear on Lingerie Briefs

Somebody at Andres Sarda must have been listening to Olivia Newton-John’s “Physical” on repeat while creating this runway collection.  Inspired by all things 1980s, the Spring/Summer 2018 swim collection was heavily styled with legwarmers, shoulder pads, Robert Palmer-esque models (remember “Simply Irresistible”?), and bold colors.  If you’re able to look beyond the eye-catching details that make this runway show as period-specific as it was, you will see the foundations for a classic swimwear collection.  Striped and solid bikinis and one-piece suits are the first layering component for each look, and part of the collection that will be available at a retail level. … ...Read more

Curvy Kate Maya print swimwear on Lingerie Briefs

If there is one thing that I think many curvy women have in common, it’s a fear of actually getting their swimwear wet. Unlike bras, ill-fitting swimwear can go bad in so many ways once it actually hits the water. For many years, buying swimwear that was too big in the band to accommodate your cup size was the norm, which made actually swimming in it fairly impractical. Ever had your top slip back off over your head when you dive under a wave in the ocean?… ...Read more

Lenny Niemeyer 2018 Swimwear collection on Lingerie Briefs

Just last week we had Tina’s blog post make mention of the Almodóvar film “Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!” and then there was Holly’s guest post featuring strappy bondage-inspired bras, and here we are with this week’s post that borrows references from both.  The Brazilian swimwear brand, Lenny Niemeyer, is a luxury swimwear label that specializes in glamorous looks with distinctive style elements.   This eponymous label creatively applies linear and geometric motifs to many of its styles; resulting in strappy swimsuit designs unlike anything we’ve ever seen. … ...Read more
