    As I've entered my 60's, I am astounded at the number of my friends, as well as younger women who are dealing with the emotional and physical realities of breast cancer. Whatever option a woman may choose for her treatment should be made first with the need to preserve her life. Those options, including prophylactic mastectomies, however, truly change the way she looks and, more importantly, feels about her body. The opportunity to look and feel good about one's self is very important, especially after treatment and/or surgery has battled the cancer. Reality can be a very unpleasant beast of its own. Having swimwear that lets a woman feel confident about her appearance is so important--at any age. The fight for your life changes how you see YOURSELF, but it also changes HOW you see yourself. The gift and availability of lovely lingerie and swimwear can help you feel that you look better, give you confidence and perhaps allow you to truly live every day of your life rather than feeling the need to hide or cover up who you are.

We began this swim column in order to highlight this potential.
