Swim Briefs

Untitled-1aOn my way back to Cabo this past fall, I suddenly realized that I did not have one bathing suit upon which I could depend.  Time was short, so I called my friends at Panache and did something I rarely do and asked for help. I needed a swim suit quickly to insure I had at least one when I left.  Much to my surprise, I received several, all of which I have happily worn on the beach here in Mexico.  However, one of them, suitably named Silhouette, and part of Panache’s core swimwear collection has my attention. It’s been a long time since a bathing suit gave me a sense of personal well-being. Time has re-mapped my body to parts previously unknown. But this shaping suit evoked a clear remembrance of things past.  Engineered with Xtra Life and Xtra-Firm LYCRA® Beauty fabric, it is designed to … ...Read more

Swim With Confidence

Winter is here and it is time for comfort foods and holiday treats, to warm our selves by the fire and to sip hot cocoa.  It’s a time to daydream about tropical beaches and our upcoming winter vacation. But with all of this comes the dread of baring our sun-starved yet overfed bodies for all of the world to see and the intimidating process of finding a bathing suit that fits.

Fear not, the world of swimwear has finally woken up to the fact that most of us don’t have a size 5, rock hard, bikini body. Here are some simple tips to help camouflage your trouble areas without compromising your desire to be comfortable and fashionable.

Think tankini tops when looking for tummy coverage:

Many women who are feeling the effects of too many slices of pie at Thanksgiving automatically think a one piece suit … ...Read more

My recent fascination with the swimwear market has been relegated to new heights as I spend these weeks in a beach community that runs the gamut from laissez-faire to sophisticated chic. Since the world lives in shorts and bathing suits here in Cabo, it is natural for cover-ups to take a front and center position, not only at the water’s edge, but also in the streets. On a personal level I have several Fiji Racer printed poly chiffon tunic tops from Wrap Up. But I fell in love with this sun warrior lace swim dress  by Eberjey, maybe for the image it provokes of casual bliss.

Cabo Color ~ Freya Swim

By Ellen Lewis

One of the wonderful things about Cabo is the synthesis of light, water, and color. Every time I travel here, I over pack. Then I live in the same 2 sundresses and swimwear the entire time. No one dresses for anything.  Bathing suits and cover ups are the wardrobe de riguer. Take this one by Freya Swim; the Penza Fusion soft cup plunge, halter bikini top and hipster brief. This festive, wire-free swimsuit has vibrant, artsy brushstokes and the brief features a little beach bling with gold sliders at the sides. Up to a GG cup, this print is Cabo Hot.

There is nothing like a tropical dream to divert oneself from the everyday minutiae that tends to manipulate out lives. I am leaving for my home in Cabo San Lucas on Friday and most excited by the prospect of tropical gardens, luscious fruit, fresh sea air and the general slowdown that informs the lifestyle of this Mexican community. Since the everyday attire is swimwear and I need a supportive swim wardrobe to support me, I will be taking an assortment of bathing suits constructed for D – I cups; bottoms S – XXL. One brand that works for me is Fantasie. I tend to stick to NY black, so mine are from the brand cadre of basics. But there is no denying that this plunge tankini and two piece, part of the Cuba collection delivering now, will incite plenty of winter getaway thoughts.
