Kaliopi Eleni Silk Nightwear Collection as featured on Lingerie Briefs

I don’t recall how I first came across the eponymously-named Kaliopi Eleni, an independent Australian brand whose prices run from $60-$415 (excluding accessories).

However, I definitely remember the first piece I saw: a short robe in pastel-toned printed silk, with the most beautiful of florals stretching up from the hemline. Hovering above them, off to the side on one shoulder, was a solitary hummingbird, a whimsical little addition that instantly took the design in my mind from ‘just another’ pretty floral robe to something far more memorable.… Read More

I have decided to split my market report in two parts because the Evolution and Curve NY show, although similar in their color/ print/ and shape reveal, had two very different vibes. To be perfectly honest, timing required that I debrief from the smaller exposition first.  Evolution was a limited array of boutique/ luxury brands portrayed in an intimate space. It started one day earlier than Curve NY, which I will recap next week. Suffice it to say, Curve reinforced the fabric and style stories I saw at Evolution, but it was at Curve, which was a larger exposition, that I learned about emerging Lingerie movements destined for mainline status.… Read More

Nipples: They’re Back

Make no mistake. In this Coronavirus Year Three, we’re still—if not so steadfastly–on the alert. Witness the somber, mannish, oversize, protective pants suits that are all the rage. Witness as well all the hoods and balaclavas, even as the weather warms up. And the continuing sales of molded, padded, modesty-invoking T-shirt bras. “They are still strong–for reason of eliminating nipple display,” says Gale Epstein, co-founder and creative director of Hanky Panky. Nonetheless, after all the quarantining, the cowering inside, the rampant sanitizing, and the armoring with face masks, we are gradually emerging from the coronavirus.… Read More

It’s not a big secret to many of our readers that I horseback ride. For me, it’s better than traditional therapy. There is absolutely nothing equivalent to standing next to a 1000-pound sentient animal for perspective. Horses are my escape valve. I am at the barn almost every day in Mexico. It’s a lifestyle for me in Los Cabos.

Swedish Stockings run-resistant, recycleable stockings featured on Lingerie BriefsCreated by Linn Frisinger and Nadja Forsberg, Swedish Stockings is a brand on a mission to clean up the hosiery industry.

For decades now, most hosiery has been made from nylon. A petroleum-based product, it sheds microplastic fibers and is an incredibly energy-intensive yarn to produce from scratch. But perhaps most worryingly of all for such a throwaway garment, nylon won’t biodegrade at the end of its lifespan.

Given that the sheerest hosiery styles can often be sent to landfill after only a few wears, which is how little time it can take them to develop a run, they’re not all that much better than single-use plastics.… Read More
