Paris lingerie show

heatwave

With the thermometer hovering close to 100 degrees, the overwhelming theme in Paris this weekend is the weather and keeping cool.  Couple the heat with the fact that the entire city just went on sale, and it’s not that easy to come up with any inspirational trends.

There are almost no new collections in the stores, but I did manage to see a few sprouts of emerging fall color, mainly blue.

Colette-in-Paris

Lingerie is to me a way of lifting women up. It is, if handled with class, the mystique that infiltrates our wardrobes, a voyage to femininity and self-esteem. It was rainy and grey in Paris this past week, typical January weather, and perhaps it affected my perception that the city had lost come of its luster. I try to leave my politics out of this column but in the wake of recent current events, it … Read More

Live From Paris ~ Retail

Andres-Sarda
In Paris for the Salon International de la Lingerie show, slightly jet lagged and somewhat inured to the romantic fog that used to engross me whenever I found myself in this beautiful city, I still find certain aspects of the French culture  so poetic, it is difficult to ignore the creativity born here.  But more about that later. Today, I made a point of shopping at the usual suspects: Le Printemps, Galleries Lafayette and Bon … Read More

Today at Salon De Lingerie was my general show overview and I did not spend too much time on individual brands.  Mostly I took stock of the show and what it had to offer.  It was a bit quiet here due to flight cancellations from the snowstorm and European economic woes, but still most of the booths with whom I touched base with were pleased with the traffic.

There is an evolving color story and … Read More
