The slight shift in the weather this week had me thinking.  I used to go to France every September to shop the stores and attend the fabric shows.  Mandatory on my agenda was a trip to the Marché Aux Puces, the celebratory Paris flea market, where inspiration can jump out from the rambling assemblage of eccentric, elegant and engaging shops.  This shopping mecca is a crossroads of art, steeped in history, and ratified by the extraordinary level of visitors who touch base there every week-end. My objective was gorgeous lingerie, laces and creative detail, but it was the atmosphere of discovery that truly motivated me.  Mining such a free style economic environment is fun.

The Lou Piccadilly collection is just the kind of collectible indulgence I could imagine myself prospecting in one of the charming retail stalls. The collaboration of old school construction with modern luxury materials is for me … ...Read more

Romance Returns ~ Amulette

I think that I am just a little bit in love.  I am inspired by the sophisticated underpinnings that so eloquently define the Amulette brand.  I have been watching this label for several seasons now and have grown more and more enamored with these beautifully conceived collections of romantic lingerie designs made in Columbia with exquisite European fabrics and laces.  I am always careful in my assessment of intimate potential, preferring a watchful strategy.  I need to see continuity and resolve. Amulette grows stronger with each new collection and I am convinced it is because creator Joanna Issac’s personal passion for delicate and romantic lingerie is so clearly the soul of her designs.   Inquiries: floc@inshowroom.com

Intimate Magic ~ Chantelle

The first time I saw David Blaine perform his Street Magic, I must admit I was somewhat wary.  I am not a fan of tricks, sleight of hand or wizardry.  But it did not take too much scrutiny for me to realize that what I was observing was a form of extraordinary art.  In Blaine’s space, reality shifts, perception intercedes, and astonishment results.  What you see is what you get.  It does not matter that what you see is really something else.  You are still amazed.  The feeling of wonder is visceral as you remain transfixed on the performance. You are completely entertained by the magician’s illusions.

I started thinking about David Blaine’s artistry the other day while visiting the Chantelle showroom in NYC to re-look at fall and preview spring 2013 products.  The Chantelle brand, already a master at balancing intimate performance and feminine mystique, has captured the essence … ...Read more

Sensual Style ~ Samantha Chang

I have always been a firm believer in the critical importance of fabric research and development as the primary element of great Lingerie design.  It is after all, the most important facet of the Intimate creative process, because unlike outerwear, lingerie, worn so close to the naked body, is limited in the types of trims and accessories that can be used.  For intimates, it is all about the feel, drape and shape of the material.  It takes a certain type of skill to form an elegant yet functional piece of loungewear; thus the luxurious appeal of Samantha Changs Home Collection.   The secret ingredient:  the unique Miyabe micro acrylic fabric that Samantha has so expertly manipulated into an easy care assortment of everyday basic styles that are fast becoming replenishment items wherever they are sold. Panty Personality Game!

By Aimee Guthinger

Couldn’t wait to share with all of you a fun bridal shower gift game I heard about the other day while a maid of honor was shopping here at Bedroom I’s Boutique.  It seems the hosts decided to create a panty party game within this bride’s shower.

Each guest is asked to bring a panty separately wrapped as one of the bride’s gifts and to be sure to make it an anonymous package leaving off the name of the gift giver and if possible to use a different variety of gift wrap to add to the anonymity.  The bride opens each panty present & has to guess to which guest it has been gifted from.

I thought it was a fun way to encourage guests who under other circumstances may feel inhibited to purchase less formal panties to really have some fun!

In any event, I have … ...Read more
