Ripe With Passion

readingbookWhen I was a teenager, I was very taken by the work of D.H. Lawrence. I was particularly enamored by the novel Sons and Lovers and I fell in love with a passage in the book where Gerald schools Hermione on how to eat a fig. All of Lawrence’s poetic writing was ripe with passion. He said:

“Be still when you have nothing to say; when genuine passion moves you, say what you’ve got to say, and say it hot.”

These missives came to mind eating figslast week when I had the opportunity to preview the sexy, new lingerie line from Brazil, Fruit De La Passion. Manufactured with the finest quality fabrics, embroidery, laces and ribbons, and in many pieces Swarovski crystals, it evokes a sophisticated femininity and sensuality. … Read more

Monarch_Butterfly_000002is[1]It’s been raining all summer in the Northeast.  So when the sun broke through last week for two consecutive days, it was a pleasure to actually sit outside on my porch and witness a butterfly floating through the milkweeds.  The rainy weather has kept us cocooned since spring.
It’s hard to believe that it’s the middle of August and these colorful gems, often regarded as flying flowers, have already begun their migration south.
I am hopeful that their presence is a sign of change. After all, it has been said that “if nothing ever changed, there’d be no butterflies.” This then, is an apt name for the new Butterflies Collection by

Hope is Blooming!

matisseApparently hope is blooming again because the energy and positive attitude I felt at the CurveNY lingerie show this past week at the Javits Center in NYC was palpable. Walking around the Spring 2009 fair, there was a clear change in mood from the exhibition last February. This show felt like an evolution. Besides the obvious increase in traffic, I had the opportunity to walk the show with my colleague, Jenny Kell, the Design Director for  Concepts Read more

Since the age of 16, when I spent a summer living with a family above their cheese factory in Reims, France, I have been enamored by the elegance and savoir-faireaesthetic of the French culture. Maybe it was the Veuve Clicquot champagne that was served freely at the dinner table, or the chocolate éclairs I managed to overeat while exploring the plethora of patisseries with my teenage friends.

In college, while studying the art and language that is at the heart of the French psyche, I could not ignore the elements of style and taste that inform this seductive society.

The French have an uncanny ability to incorporate feminine charm and exquisite detail into the everyday fabric of their lives.

They just have a certain “savoir-faire”.

lgI spent every summer of my childhood camping on the islands in Lake George, N.Y.  in the heart of the Adirondack Mountains. The tradition continued into adulthood, shifting to the family log cabin on the shoreline of Schroon Lake, located further north in this six million acre state park. My affection for the verdant forests, pristine lakes and silent beauty must have influenced my fierce affinity for all things green.

I see the mountain light and how it yields to so many different hues of green as something organic and alive with possibilities.

Nature gives us fabrics that are a reflection of this pure and clean environment and finding products that sustain the environment remains an essential tenet of our lifestyle.
